01 — ABSTRACTPrivate Banking Certification · Level II (Banca Patrimonial)
Private banking has stopped being an extension of product banking. The high-net-worth client in Mexico and Latin America now expects currency hedges, a reading of the curve, fiduciary structures and a tax view that crosses the border into the United States. Private Banking Certification · Level II attests that the banker commands that advanced layer: not by describing it, but by applying it to a real patrimony, with its risks, its family and its horizon.
The RiskMathics Certificate Institute certifies; the Private Wealth Management Institute prepares. The Level II preparation program runs twelve modules, ninety sessions and 225 hours, from advanced markets to family governance, and closes with an integrative capstone. The exam is built separately, with items calibrated to levels 1, 2 and 3 of Bloom's taxonomy, and may be taken without enrolling in the program.
For the institution, the credential answers a question currently settled by intuition: who on the team can sit across from an enterprising family and hold a conversation about currency risk, succession and taxation without delegating it. For the professional, it marks the passage from account executive to private banker: the level at which the relationship is earned by judgment rather than by catalogue.

02 — INDUSTRYWhat is happening in the industry
The market exists and is underserved. Latin America holds close to 587,000 high-net-worth individuals with USD 9.2 trillion in assets, and Mexico has one of the region's two largest millionaire populations. Yet Mexico's formal CNBV registry of investment advisers counts only 154 entities. The gap between wealth to be advised and accredited advisers is structural, not cyclical.
Generational transfer is rewriting the relationship. Global estimates place USD 124 trillion in wealth changing hands by 2048, and eight in ten heirs plan to switch advisers within one to two years of inheriting. In Mexico, with no estate tax, the fideicomiso is the central structuring vehicle; the banker who does not command it loses the conversation with the next generation.
The technical bar has risen. High-net-worth allocations to alternatives reached 15 % in 2024, cross-border taxation with the United States and nearshoring entered the agenda of enterprising families, and cybersecurity became part of the service. None of those conversations can be carried with a product catalogue.

03 — WHYWhy this certification
International wealth-management credentials assess advisory in its Anglo-Saxon form: no Mexican fideicomisos, no Mexico–United States tax corridor, no Latin American family-business dynamics. Local certifications attest the regulatory minimum to deal in securities, not the capacity to design a patrimony. Between the two lies the space where the client relationship is decided.
Private Banking Certification · Level II occupies that space. It assesses what the advanced banker actually does: hedge currency risk, read the curve, build a portfolio with alternatives, propose a fiduciary structure, anticipate the tax effect of a decision and sustain the family-governance conversation. And it is assessed by a third party independent of the institute that teaches.
- A body of knowledge drawn from a program with a defined calendar: twelve modules, ninety sessions and 225 hours.
- An explicitly advanced level: it presumes Level I fundamentals and places the emphasis on application to cases.
- Content international credentials do not cover: the Mexican fideicomiso, Mexico–United States taxation, nearshoring.
- An exam built by the RiskMathics Certificate Institute, separate from the preparation program and from the candidate's employer.
- Items at Bloom levels 1, 2 and 3: remember, understand and apply, on private banking situations.

05 — INSTITUTIONSThe cut-off line
Every private bank has a graduation problem: it knows who sells, but it does not always know who can advise. Promotions to private banker rest on indirect signals: book size, tenure, the client's goodwill. None of them measures whether the person understands a curve, a hedge or a fideicomiso.
An institution that requires this certification turns that decision into evidence. It can set Level II as the threshold for serving enterprising families, for authorizing proposals involving derivatives or fiduciary structures, or for promotion to the ultra-high-net-worth desk. The credential does not replace the director's judgment; it gives it a comparable floor across candidates.
- An objective threshold for the step from account executive to private banker.
- A uniform criterion across branches, banks and generations of bankers.
- Lower recommendation risk: whoever proposes derivatives or structures has demonstrated the ability to apply them.
- A signal to the client: the relationship is held by someone assessed by an independent third party.

06 — PROFILEWho it is for

Certification exam
Certification exam
Built, audited and administered by the RiskMathics Certificate Institute, a third party independent of the institute that prepares and of the candidate's employer. It may be taken with or without having completed the preparation program. It measures the full body of knowledge, not attendance.
If the candidate does not pass
The Certification Board is defining the failure and retake policy: how many attempts each window allows, the minimum wait between them, the fee for sitting the exam again and what happens to levels already passed. It is published here as soon as it is approved; in the meantime, the figures may be requested at growth@riskmathics.com. Exam governance →
Items are built to levels 1, 2 and 3 of Bloom's taxonomy: remember, understand and apply. Every exam form follows a fixed recipe by domain and by level, so that any two candidates face the same demand. The proportion by level and by domain is published with the exam blueprint before the first sitting. Bloom's Taxonomy →

09 — MOCK EXAMSMock exams
Mock exams reproduce the exam recipe: the same distribution by domain and the same three levels of Bloom's taxonomy, with no higher levels. They are not class reviews; they are rehearsals of the instrument, with items that require recalling the concept, understanding its logic and applying it to a private banking situation.
The Private Wealth Management Institute program includes them as part of the preparation. Results are reported by domain and by cognitive level, so that the gap is known to lie in remembering, understanding or applying. Their availability outside the program is to be confirmed; enquiries are handled at growth@riskmathics.com.
- Items written for the program, separate from the exam item bank.
- Results by domain and by Bloom level.
- Reference threshold to be confirmed until the exam's passing score is published.

12 — FAQFrequently asked questions
Can the exam be taken without completing the program?
Yes. The exam is administered by the RiskMathics Certificate Institute as an independent third party and is open to anyone who meets the requirements, whether or not they completed the Private Wealth Management Institute program. The program covers the full syllabus and includes mock exams; it is the recommended path, not the mandatory one.
How does Level II differ from Level I?
Level I (Entry Level) builds fundamentals over 60 sessions and 150 hours: FX operations, fixed income, equities, an introduction to hedging, economic indicators, client profiling, portfolios, basic insurance, basic taxation, executive communication and regulation. Level II (Advanced) takes each subject to its applied form over 90 sessions and 225 hours: currency risk management, curves and duration, sector rotation, options and swaps, behavioral finance, alternatives, trusts and family governance, Mexico–United States taxation, advanced insurance, leadership and an integrative capstone.
Is passing Level I mandatory?
Admission requirements for the Level II exam are to be confirmed and will be published with the call for candidates. The program is designed as an advanced level and presumes the fundamentals covered in Level I; those who arrive without them will find their starting point in Level I.
Does it carry regulatory recognition?
No. This certification is not endorsed by any regulator and does not replace the AMIB Figure 3 certification, which regulation requires for advising on investment strategies. It attests advanced private banking knowledge and competencies before an independent third party.
Who teaches and who certifies?
The Private Wealth Management Institute delivers the preparation program. The RiskMathics Certificate Institute builds, audits and administers the exam. The separation is deliberate: whoever teaches wants the student to learn; whoever certifies must be willing to fail them.
When is the first exam and how is it built?
The date of the first sitting is to be confirmed and will be published before enrollment opens. Items are built to levels 1, 2 and 3 of Bloom's taxonomy, remember, understand and apply, with a fixed recipe by domain. Enquiries: growth@riskmathics.com or +52 55 55 36 35 97 ext. 2023.
